Lack of IntarWebs connection

I’m back to living in the woods, so that’s why I haven’t been updating this blog in ages.  Unfortunately, I don’t know when/if I’ll be getting an Internet connection that’s not at work until I return to class at the end of May.  Bah!!  Oh the trials of modern life. ;)

I’m mostly posting this to let people know that I have NOT been reading their blogs as I’m not online much, so if there is something you really want me to know, you’ll have to call me or email me.

Miss you all!!

Looks like no TPC for me

Leonard Cohen gates of love
Alas, it seems too dangerous to embark on a journey to The Big Smoke tomorrow.  I wish I could show you the radar image Environment Canada has up on their website.  It shows the entire country of Canada, all nice and clear, with a giant monster of a storm covering the area between here and Toronto.

My host says to me, "Sometimes the universe just gives you incredibly obvious signs.  For example:

... What more do you need?"  LOL!

So, is this what folks are talking about when they say Mercury is in retrograde?

Boo, weather! BOOOO!

Pursed Lips of Doom
Great.  There are tonnes of freezing rain, heavy snow, storm warnings and watches, and other bits of overly gloomy weather forcast for today and tomorrow between La Capital and TO, which means the likelihood of me making it to the Toronto Pagan Conference is starting to markedly drop.  BOOOOO, HIISSSSSS!

Yarg.

I'll be playing it by ear, but I don't think I should risk my life to drive.  And I was so looking forward to this.

Any weather witches about? ;)

Adventures in Chiropractic

moon over mountains

(cut-n-pasted from my main blog, written last night)

Since I moved West for my field placement, I've been having problems with my back and right hip. It started with pain and soreness in my lower back and gradually progressed to crippling pain in my back and right hip. I've been doing my best to bed-surf at friends' houses over the past few weeks (and no, not in a dirty way ;) ), trying to find comfortable beds to sleep in. Once I've found a great bed, it's pretty much guaranteed I'll keep visiting. ;)

I finally made it in to see a chiropractor yesterday morning, and BOY am I EVER happy I did! It turns out I've sprained two of my lower vertebrae and have spasming in pretty much every associated muscle. Joy. Mind you, at least I know what's going on now. He gave me a couple of really good cracks and loosened up my splinted back. I'm feeling quite good now, but earlier today things were still quite miserable. I'm going back to see the chiropractor on Friday morning to take a closer look at my X-rays and for a few more adjustments.

Now I'm off to Kay and Jay's place for the night - they've been super-great about letting me crash there now and again. They have a very comfortable guest bed that I've been using whenever I have the chance. Their bed is probably only second in line to Elad's guest bed in her basement. Thank you for helping me out!!

G'night all! More updatiness tomorrow, I hope.

I'm SO going to switch to Blogger or LJ for my main blog. I'm a computer geek, and proud of it, but I'm sick of stuff happening to my main blog that I can't seem to control. It makes me realize how much geek mojo/kung-fu I've lost, and I hate it. I might have to resort to an externally hosted, non-geeky format of blogging.

Ah, have I fallen this far?? *sigh*

But on the bright side, house hosts that serve you lots of red wine on a Friday night are the shizznit! :D

I broke my blog

Hello friends! Just to let you know, I ran into a snag when updating the WordPress installation of my actual blog, so it might take awhile for me to get it straightened out. Now I have a good excuse to not update my blog. :)

This postcard from PostSecret made me cry:

Maybe it's the knitting reference. But probably not.

My internet seems off tonight - I can't access a lot of sites that should be working. For example: when I'm reading my LJ Friends page, I can read posts just fine, but when I actually try to visit my friend's LJ's, I get "server not found." I also can't visit my main blog. Blech. There also seems to be a lot of packet loss going on too. More blech.

I'm moving to the La Capital area during the first week of January! I'm going there for my five month field placement for my degree. I'll be living about 30 min outside of La Capital, and working about 1.5 hours outside. I can't wait!!! I'm really starting to get excited now. But first, I must pack up all my stuff and put it in storage. I'll be trying to travel as lightly as possible. I can only bring what will fit into a compact car. :)

I guess that's it. I'm not feeling to entertaining at the moment.

More Blarg.

Oh, and put something in my stocking, will ya? :)

More Linguistic Laughables

  • Dec. 4th, 2006 at 3:22 PM
Can't Brain Today
Remember when I posted about a woman who was "possessed" with roosters? Well I have a few more recent funnies from my local Freecycle list:

Wanted - Building Supplies
"trying to put petitions in a very big room. lumber, plywood, sheet rock, drywall compound, etc would be very appreciated."

If you want petitions, I'd suggest some paper, a photocopier and some pens, not lumber, plywood and sheet rock. Then again, maybe you do petitions differently than I do.

Now, this is not a linguistic slip-up, just a typo:

Offered - books for knitting and crotche

Hmm, what an interesting combination of books. I suggest putting the crotch books on another list other than Freecycle, though. We like to keep this list family-friendly. ;)

Teehee!

OMFG! Blackadder
Sometimes it irritates me when people use the wrong word for what they're trying to say, but sometimes it can be incredibly amusing. Below is a sentance from a recent post on a Yahoo!Group I'm on:

My friend is "possessed" with roosters and would like to have any items that you may have to offer for her kitchen.

Do you think she means "obsessed?" Or do you think she means her friends is actually running around her kitchen crowing like a rooster and spitting pea soup from her beak while swearing in Latin? TeeHEE!!

Wheeee! Random playlists rawk

I love my taste in music! (which, I suppose, should be obvious...)

On my random playlist:

Aphex Twin vs Prodigy - Breathe (Remix)
Weezer - Don't Let Go
Meryn Cadell - The Pope
Joy Transmission - Transmission
Wax Manequin - Message from the Queen

Yay!

But now, the Rick Mercer Report! byee....

Found at [info]danadreamer.

HowManyOfMe.com
LogoThere are:
302
people with my name
in the U.S.A.

How many have your name?

Not bad for a country of 299,937,448 people. I wonder how many there are of me in Canada?

Here is an amusing discussion of the accuracy of the program.
